Paper casting

Draw an image on an 8”x10” sheet of paper.

Take a sheet of copper or aluminum that is the same size as your drawing. Make sure that the edges are taped, so you don't cut yourself.

Tape a sheet of carbon paper to the copper. Make sure the dark side is against the metal. Tape your drawing to the carbon paper and trace over the lines of your drawing.

Take off the drawing, which you may now discard if you so desire. Using the wooden stylus, press in all of the lines that make up your image.

Flip the copper over and push out the interiors of your picture. As you emboss the copper, make sure that you do so carefully, so you don’t puncture the copper.

Place your copper face down on a lunch tray. Pour paper pulp over the copper. Use a sponge to press out the water from the pulp. Let it dry.

(N.B.- if the paper is not dissolved enough, or if it is still in big chunks, it is not ready to use! DO NOT USE IT!)

Peel the copper off of the paper. Please give me the copper so that I may recycle it. Take the paper and spray paint it the color of your choice.
